I read your essay with interest and admiration. It did, however, bring a question to mind that I believe troubles all classroom and writing teachers. How do you handle revelations that legally or ethically require intervention? And on a less important vein, do you do the customary edit, revision, and rewrite work with this assignment, or is it a “one and done” writing activity? And finally, do you have a one-on-one conference with each student after the work is submitted? If so, do you concentrate on the content, the mechanics, or both?
